Description
SquareTrade © AP6.0On auction for quick sale. This vintage Martin Freres Bb clarinet was made in Paris. Probably dates from the 1930's or 1940's, although I could not find any serial number list for this maker. The barrel, upper joint and bell are stamped with the name and Bee logo. The serial number 2171 is on the upper and lower joints. Made from grenadilla wood with an ebonite barrel (original to this clarinet) and has nickel keys. mechanically in excellent condition. Just overhauled with all new pads and corks. Repairs made to one hairline crack in the lower joint (not through any tone hole) and some chips of wood broken off on the upper joint. Low pitch, sounds at A=440. Plays beautifully with a sweet French sounding tone. Very similar to a Buffet from the same time period. Due to the cosmetics of the repaired chips, some scratches and the ebonite barrel, we are offering this clarinet at an exceptional price. Perfect for a student as a step-up or intermediate instrument. Could serve as a pro instrument for a doubler as well. Don't let this opportunity slip by. Martin Freres was one of the greatest manufacturers of instruments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A very well made clarinet. Comes with the vintage Pedler case shown in photo.
